Banana, Almond Butter, Date Smoothie

Here it is! I have finally perfected a smoothie recipe. Finally.

There are so many moving pieces to a smoothie, just like any other recipe, I guess, but the smoothie offers a mechanism for recognizing, even slightly, all sorts of flavors and getting the right ratios is a true science and labor of love.



I have always loved the banana-almond butter-date combination (how could you not!?), but I also like to have some interesting back notes to balance out the heaviness of the almond butter and date base. Peaches and mangoes may sound really strange with these flavors, but, trust me you barely taste them. They just add a perfect, tropical, light after taste to what is otherwise a bomb of fruit to shock your system.

Creamy Dreamy Smoothie

yield: about 2 1/2 cups


  • 1 1/2 banana
  • 3/4 cup frozen mango
  • 3/4 cup frozen peaches
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 1 large date
  • 3/4 cup water


  • place all in a blender and blend until smooth
